Do you have an idea for a residency?
Who can apply to Residence Botkyrka?
Are you an artist, architect, curator, art educator, researcher or cultural worker and have an idea that you wish to research and develop from the context of Botkyrka together with Botkyrka Konsthall and the local community?
We are inviting artists throughout the year and have Open Calls for specific programmes (see the current Creative Home Residency). However, we are also happy to receive spontaneous applications describing ideas for a residency. Applications are reviewed by Botkyrka konsthall’s team. Please email us your idea together with your portfolio (CV or link to website to: email@example.com.
What is included in the residency?
Accommodation: Residence Botkyrka’s apartment at Krögarvägen 26 in Fittja. The newly renovated apartment has two bedrooms with workplaces, a living room that is also an archive and can accommodate smaller gatherings, a kitchen, a toilet and a bathroom with a shower and washing machine.
Funding: depending on the type of collaboration / external funding, we offer a stipend (per diem) and costs for travel as well as a smaller production budget. Note: funding can vary depending on the type of support that is connected to the specific residency programme.
Production and assistance: Botkyrka Konsthall’s team is available to introduce the artist to the local community, and a curator will assist in developing research and project ideas that can be presented within the programme.
What is the length of a residency period?
A residency is usually 1-3 months, depending on the artistic process and capacity of the program. In some cases, the period is split to allow ideas to develop and be realised at a later date.
We are welcoming collaborations with institutions, educations, organisations, collectives and other initiatives who are interested in developing artistic research and projects from the location Botkyrka.
OPEN CALL: The Creative Home Residency programme (2023-2025) aims to support artists who are parents and/or in any type of family constellation. It takes into consideration the challenges artists in a family setting face when trying to further their international networks and artistic careers.
The programme welcomes artists, curators, architects and critics (living in any of the Nordic / Baltic countries except Sweden) who would like the opportunity to experience a residency as a family and see what it can bring to their artistic research and work.
The residency encourages innovative and experimental forms of practices where the residency apartment, the public space (urban or nature areas) and a garden allotment a variety of spaces are available within Botkyrka Konsthall such as a kitchen, an artists’ books archive, workshop spaces and the public library in Fittja.
AllArtNow Lab with its newly opened Extention Art Space is located approx. 45 minutes by direct metro line from the residency apartment and offers an exhibition space as well as a studio that is regularly hosting artists and has become a meeting point for the Stockholm arts scene.
The residency includes travel costs (to/from a Nordic/Baltic country), a stipend (15 000 SEK/month per artist), a production/material budget (10 000 SEK/artist) and accommodation in Residence Botkyrka’s apartment in Fittja.
The length of the residency is 1-2 months.
It is possible to apply for a residency period during 2024-2025. Please email 1) a letter describing your interests and motivations for this residency 2) artists’ portfolios / websites 3) the requirements and wishes you have for your family. Email: firstname.lastname@example.org
