Travel, Move, Flee
The theme “Travel, Move, Flee” emerged during a year when many people had to flee and were in states of involuntary mobility. The group engaged in discussions on mobility and limitations, opportunities and difficulties based on their own experiences. Who is allowed, has the possibility, or are forced to make these decisions?
The suitcase as an object also became a metaphor and a canvas for the individual works to be expressed onto. Each suitcase’s outside were painted with the artists’ self-portraits, as a unified form, whilst the inside were hiding their own personal stories.
The project resulted in a mobile and performative exhibition that traveled around to different locations in Stockholm. During the art festival Fittja Open on September 12, 2015, the group presented their artworks and the stories hidden inside the suitcases.
